Adagio Fine ChinaWe applaud any efforts made to improve recreational facilities to be enjoyed by the local community. Although we are a local business we live outside the area and have not used the park in the past. With the proposed improvements we would hope to use the park in the future for woodland walking.
Andrew Thorne & Co. Family , friends and clients will benefit from improvements.
Buckstones Community Primary School As Head of Buckstones Primary School I would like to pledge my support to the Friends of Dunwood Park on behalf of the children, staff and Governors. We support the bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund as we feel it will benefit the local community which includes the families from Buckstones Primary School. We will also look forward to making greater use of the park as an educational resource. Sarah Healey
Cactus, FloristsWonderful if all the plans get the funding they need. This will make a really nice park to use. The ideas are well thought out and will enable a much wider group of people to use the space. I have walked the main paths and listened to the birds and watched the squirrels.
Domaine de la HamberieI hope this is a great success

Extended Services TeamCo-ordinator of the Shaw Primary schools consortium. I have given her some brochures and she will make a pitch at the meeting on Tuesday 27th Jan. I must send her a brief summary of what is needed.
F & J Hauck Ltd:We are absolutely delighted. It has been long overdue. The proposals to bring the park back to its former glory will be a major boost for the community and provides an area for play relaxation and walks. When my children were younger we visited the park but now not so frequently mainly due to the condition of the paths. I hope we will be able to use the park again more frequently.
Feeare's Flame Factory, FireplacesI think it is a good idea to persuade people to get outdoors into the fresh air nd a safe environment for people of all ages to enjoy. It's a little bit of nature on your doorstep. I would have visited sooner as I have a dog and enjoy walking. I didn't know of the park when I opened my business in Shaw until I received this form. I will now make time to visit the park.
Fishnet Aquarium and PetsHaving read your leaflet I am reminded of the importance of local parks such as Dunwood Park. As a busy full time worker it is great to know we can take time out to just stroll around and refresh in such places of nature and woodland and how important it is to have a place for young families to go. As most people often do we have used the park in our lives on and off throughout the years with our children. We can now look forward to re-acquainting ourselves with the park and taking our grandchildren and hopefully enjoy the park in the future when we retire.
Friends of High Crompton ParkIn support of the Big Lottery Bid.
Garment Express:I think it is great for the community and to see the park tidied up. We used to go to the park when at school and watch Dad play bowls and then walk through the park.
Hampden Clough Artists GroupIn support of the bid. I enjoy walking in the park
HolligansGood luck with this bid. Chamakh a good case for the lottery money.
Interiors, Home FurnishinggsThe play area could be made much better but also made safer in the evenings when older children gather and are very intimidating to the younger ones. I would like to take grandchildren for walks and bike rides.
MENDWorking with Keith Bennell re healthy walks etc.
Naughty But Nice CafeIn support of the bid. I would use the park more if the toilets are renovated.
Oldham MBC Adult ServicesKey multipurpose community rooms in cafe building d accessible for older people for lunch club etc.
Patricia Kershaw:I use the park daily in the summer months, and sometimes during the winter, taking the children for walks and also to play tennis. The improvements would benefit the children. It would be very important to stop the vandalism.
Peak & Northern Footpaths Soc.In support of the Bid. We are a charity with the aim of creating and preserving open spaces, public access rights and rights of way in 8 northern counties
PeapodDunwood park is a lovely part of Shaw which would benefit from TLC and renewal/refurbishment of worn/old buildings and aspects. General maintenance and improvements overall would also be welcome but I would stress that we should not intrude too much on the woodland and its wildlife. Children willlearn less if the woodland is turned into parkland. I, my family and parents have walked in the woodlands for many years. The birds and wildlife should be given much more consideration and their habitats enhanced.
Poundbuster, Retail shopThe park is an historical and significant area attracting people and children to this central point of Shaw. It also attract others from differnt parts of town. I have walked in the park, taken the children and played tennis there. I would hope to use the park for family outings, tennis, showing relatives from other towns. I would suggest a running/jogging area.
RaynersThe renovation of the park would be very well received by the community. it is already a popular place for families to visit. Staff who live locally take their children to play there. The new proposals will encourage a wider audience which in turn could serve to stimulate business in Shaw as well. It would encourage more regular visits if there are more activities and the area is a nice place in general to be. Royal British Legion, ShawThe proposals are very good
Royal National Lifeboat Institution We welcome any improvement to a favourite park in Shaw for walking, dog walking, Courting(!) and the Pennine Way paths. We also look forward to using the new facilities.
Royton Shaw & Crompton Area CommitteeThe Area Committee is pleased to support the bid as it has done throughout the bid process
Ryder & DuttonThe bid is a great idea to boost the use of the Park. We would hope to make more use of the Tennis facilities in our spare time.
Shaw and Crompton Parish CouncilThe Parish Council gives its full support to the bid and plans to make full use of the facilities provided.
Shaw Cricket ClubPlease accept this as confirmation of the Club's support for the lottery bid for the renovation of Dunwood Park. Your association, like the Cricket Club, is helping to provide facilities for both young and old to use all year round and this should be encouraged in all areas of Shaw. Good Luck for your bid.
Shawlive.tvShaw Live TV is very pleased to support the Lottery Bid as we have done from the start
St Andrews Brownies, ShawTreasure hunt and picnics and increased use e.g planting and working with ranger services.
St Joseph's R.C.Primary SchoolOn behalf of St Joseph's R.C.Primary School Shaw I can state that the school gives its total support to the bid for heritage lottery funding which is in the course of preparation by Oldham Council with The Friends of Dunwood Park. The educational opportunities afforded by the park are numerous and we will consider a number of these which will enable the learners in this school to develop an awareness of the park and its potential for future development. By example the school is involved in developing both environmental and local geographical issues and trails. Along with our local History curriculum the park represents a most viable and enriching resource which can only benefit learners and help bring the curriculum to life. Even the opportunity for the children to engage in social and community awareness issues by being consulted and involved in planning issues and activities is of inherent value in its own right. In making the decision we will work in cooperation with the consultant.
Tesco ExpressI am impressed that local people have rallied round and made an effort to improve the surrounding area. Parks and green spaces are an essential part of any community and contribute to the feel good factor.
The Blue Bell ShopA much needed facility in Shaw and in desperate need of renovation and it would be more used by the people of Shaw. Since the demise of Shaw Council very little money has been spent on its upkeep. We regularly walk through the park with the Grandchildren. It is an oasis of peace and quiet. We would make greater use of the park if the facilities were improved.
The Ramblers Association Manchester & High Peak Area Oldham Group Offering support from the Oldham Ramblers to the bid towards the Big Lottery and Heritage Fund Parks for People Programme for the restoration of Dunwood Park As Footpath Secretary I have an immense knowledge of the Rights of Way system in the borough and especially on the long distance paths that have been created over the past 20 years or so. Four of these Paths pass through the park. If these footpaths were improved with other measures it would help rejuvenate the overall image of the park. The main interest for the ramblers would be the improvement of the 4 long distance pathways especially the upper path on the North West edge of the wood. The views through the trees towards Crompton Moor are superb especially if some of the trees were thinned. Benches could be installed with Oldham Way waymarkers etc. added to give people, other than experienced walkers the knowledge of the Ways that follow the upper path. At the moment there is minimal signing and there is need for a vandal proof information board on the North Entrance.
Top Shop, Video and ProvisionsA much needed facility for the residents of Shaw and surrounding areas. Somewhere for all age groups to socialise. I have used the park for taking the grand children walking and they would enjoy adventure play and multi-games.
WarburtonsWarburtons has a long tradition of being actively involved in the community, which concentrates on charities, organisations and initiatives that aim to improve the quality of family life. We at the Shaw bakery would like to add our support to the Dunwood Park Community Lottery Bid.
Yarn Barn, Woolshop & HaberdasherI think the proposed plans are excellent. There is something for every age group in the community. I think it will be a great asset to the area. Many of my customers say that the proposals will mean a great improvement. Members of my knitting group would go down to the park on warm summer evenings.
